PAGANI Zonda R (2008)

Despite the fact that fewer than 100 cars have been built by Pagani since the Zonda C12 was introduced in 1999, its cars have been well known and dreamed about in the enthusiast community. Wild, race-bred looks wrapped around an interior second only to one crafted by God himself are the name of the game for the small Italian firm. It's a Ferrari Enzo except even more psychotic. That is, until last year when Ferrari debuted the FXX track car to be sold in low volume to hand-picked buyers for over $2,000,000. The Zonda R Clubsport is the answer to that car.

Power for the Zonda R comes from a 7.3-liter V-12 sourced from the AMG shop at Mercedes-Benz. Output is a dizzying 750 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque. And as with other Paganis, exhaust gasses are released through four pipes arranged in a square in the center of the car's rear. Between the body, the giant rear wing, and the countless spoilers and diffusers, there's enough carbon fiber on this car to slow up NASA space shuttle construction for months. And while it appears that those spoilers are responsible for 100 percent of the increase in overall length, the Zonda R's wheelbase is actually slightly longer than other models. Pagani hasn't announced a price for the R yet, but frankly, we don't even want to know. We just want a ride.
