McLaren MP4-12C 2011

Many sports cars of the older generation are now being changed into new and innovative designs fit for the 21st century. The 2011 McLaren MP4-12C tackles both the authenticity of McLaren cars and taking F1 design to a new level.
The 2011 McLaren MP4-12C has many fresh features that will excite aficionados of the brand. Every part of the sports car is manufactured and designed by the car company itself. With all these features and design ingenuity, it is clear that the 2011 McLaren MP4-12C has the makings of a classic.
The chassis is now made using a Carbon MonoCell called 12C MonoCell. The structure is more slender than former models, which in turn allows the car to be maneuvered and positioned easier on the road. The Maclaren is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine producing around 600 horsepower and 433 lb-ft of torque. The engine is coupled to a McLaren seven speed Seamless Shift dual clutch gearbox (SSG). It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3,5 seconds and can hit a top speed of more than 200mph.
Lightness is integrated into the design of the car. This can be seen in various parts all over the car. Access to the comfortable interior is through large ‘dihedral’ doors that are opened by swiping a hand underneath the broad shoulder running across the top of the door. The dihedral design uses just one hinge and allows for full access even in the tightest of spaces. Functionality is also prevalent throughout the interior. All switches and buttons are mounted within reach of the driver and are grouped according to application. The most important information is presented to the driver in the binnacle behind the steering wheel, which features a very prominent, tachometer. Additional info is presented in a screen mounted on the floating centre console. The grip of the steering wheel is modelled after grips of the wheels used by McLaren’s World Championship winning Formula 1 drivers.
All the parts of the McLaren MP4-12C are bespoke and unique to this car. Everything from the engine right down to the tailor-made switches and buttons is pure McLaren: nothing has come from another manufacturer’s parts bin.

Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon 2011

Cadillac has been a leading luxury auto brand since 1902. In recent years, Cadillac has engineered an historic renaissance led by artful engineering and global expansion. Like the sedan and coupe models, the CTS-V sports Wagon is powered by the same 6.2 liter supercharged V8 engine that delivers a total of 556 hp and 551 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine can be coupled to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic.
The exterior is finished in Midnight Silver, first seen on the Cadillac Sixteen Concept, and accented by lustrous Liquid Silver-finished wheels and a black chrome finish on the grille’s mesh insert. The rear fascia, upper spoiler and center high-mounted stop lamp are also unique to the show car. Its unique bodystyle is all we can say about what distinguishes the wagon from either of the other two high performance variants. It will ride on 19-inch aluminum wheels, pack magnetic ride control, Brembo brakes and has an optional panoramic sunroof. OK, so there’s something it has that the other two don’t.
Inside, the CTS-V Sport Wagon show car is trimmed in exclusive black leather with Alcantara accents. The upper section of the instrument panel and upper door panels are covered in the same premium leather, accented with midnight Sapele wood, while the microfiber material and stitching is applied to the lower door panels, pillars, console lid, headliner and steering wheel center. The show car features fine-grain black leather- trimmed Recaro seats with Alcantara seat inserts. The seat inserts are divided in the center and accented with dark gray stitching, while the V-series logo is laser etched into the seatbacks. Obsidian Black accents grace the center stack, console, steering wheel and door panels.
The interior of the CTS-V Sport Wagon is shared with the sedan, including streamlined instrumentation, LED lighting and hand-cut-and-sewn accents.
The brakes and tyres are taken care of by two big names in their respective fields – Brembo and Michelin – with six-piston callipers in the front and four-piston callipers in the rear housed behind Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 rubber specifically engineered for the CTS-V.

2011 Lexus LFA

Using technology developed by Toyota’s F1, Lexus was created the Future Sports Car that marks an important moment in both the history of Lexus and the development of the supercar. Constructed using advanced carbon fiber technology, the Lexus LFA is powered by aspirated V10 engine that sets new standards for compact dimensions, lightweight architecture and scintillating performance. The Lexus LFA will be hand-assembled at the Motomachi plant in Toyota City. Each V10 engine will be assembled by a single engineer, and will bear his signature as testament to each Lexus LFA’s bespoke status.
The Lexus LFA boasts class-leading aerodynamics to achieve drivetrain cooling and superb high-speed handling and stability. Extensive wind tunnel testing helped produce a wind-cheating profile with a drag coefficient of 0.31, a remarkable achievement given the degree of downforce the car creates at high speed. Airflow is precisely controlled over, under and around the car. A carbon fibre rear diffuser and flat underbody generate significant downforce, with an active rear wing, complete with a gurney flap on the leading edge, boosting the level further still.
The cabin is hand-built, with driver-focused ergonomics. The seats, upholstered in fine leather and Alcantara, provide the high level of back and side support needed in a car capable of 200mph-plus performance. The trim echoes the advanced materials used in the Lexus LFA’s construction, with exposed areas of both matt and gloss carbon fibre. Trim details are finished in brushed metal and the floor-hinged brake and throttle pedals are made of forged aluminium. As with the exterior finish, owners can choose different interior colours and details to suit personal taste.
The LFA is powered with V10 engine that produces 480Nm of torque at 6,800rpm, 90 per cent of which is available from 3,700rpm all the way to the 9,000rpm red line, thanks to Dual VVT-i technology, equal length exhaust manifolds and high-volume, 12-hole fuel injectors. This gives searing in-hear acceleration at all engine speeds and in any gear: nought to 62mph takes just 3.7 seconds and maximum speed is 202mph.

Peugeot 's Frugal RCZ Sport Cars

2010_peugeot_rcz_05

These are the first images of Peugeot's RCZ sports car due to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in mid-September. First unveiled as a concept two years ago, the production model's unique shape houses some remarkable technology. F'rinstance, an active rear spoiler, a Twin-Scroll turbocharger, direct petrol injection, variable valve lift and variable valve timing, Hill Assist to facilitate maneuvers on steep gradients, an intelligent traction control system (ASR), electronic brake force distribution (EBFD) and emergency brake assist (EBA). There's also a concept RCZ Hybrid4 which uses a 120 kW 2.0-liter HDi FAP diesel engine at the front and a 27 kW electric motor at the rear to deliver 70 mpg.
2010-peugeot-rcz-004
Three engines will initially find a place under the aluminum bonnet of the RCZ—all complying with the Euro 5 emissions standard.
Peugeot RCZ
A new 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine has been developed for the RCZ, producing maximum power of 147 kW at 5800 rpm and maximum torque of 255 Nm at 1700 rpm (or 275 with overboost).
Peugeot RCZ
The RCZ benefits from dynamic acceleration—80 to 120 kph in 6.5 seconds in fifth gear, and 0 to 100 kph in 7.6 seconds—while fuel consumption does not exceed 7.1 liters/100 km in the combined cycle (less than 165 g/km of CO2).
This 4-cylinder engine combines all of the most recent technology to create a world first: a Twin-Scroll turbocharger for performance and instant response at very low engine speeds, direct petrol injection, and variable valve lift coupled with variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust camshafts (VTi technology), for reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The RCZ will also be available with Peugeot's HDi FAP technology via a 2.0-liter engine developing maximum power of 120 kW at 3750 rpm and generous maximum torque of 340 Nm at 2000 rpm.
To obtain this level of performance it has a new generation ECCS (Extreme Conventional Combustion System) combustion chamber, a variable-geometry low-inertia turbocharger, a high-pressure pump allowing a pressure of 2000 bar in the common rail and solenoid injectors with eight apertures.

This engine offers wide scope for driving enjoyment, despite limiting fuel consumption to just 5.4 liters/100 km in the combined cycle, with CO2 emissions of 139 g/km.
A second petrol engine is available in the form of a 1.6-liter turbocharged direct-injection unit that achieves 240 Nm from 1400 rpm and 115 kW at 5800 rpm.
It offers fuel consumption of 6.9 liters/100 km and 159 g/km of CO2 with a manual gearbox. The RCZ benefits fundamentally from a highly efficient suspension set-up developed from the existing 308 range (McPherson type front suspension and rear torsion beam).
In addition, the car's ride height and center of gravity have been lowered by 20 mm and 40 mm respectively, while the RCZ is wider (+ 30 mm) with wider front and rear tracks (+ 54 mm and + 72 mm).
The suspension and dampers have been adapted accordingly and, with the addition of wider tires on 18 or 19-inch wheels, the end result is road-holding of the very highest order.
On models featuring the 147 kW engine, the front axle incorporates a special lower anti-roll bar to make the car even more responsive and agile.
Braking, meanwhile, is powerful and durable and is assured by ventilated discs with a diameter of 302 mm and a thickness of 26 mm. The 147 kW model receives discs of 340x30mm.
All models are equipped with rear brake discs with a diameter of 290x12 mm.
To facilitate maneuvers on steep gradients, all versions of the RCZ come with Hill Assist. This function is coupled as standard with ESP which, except on versions with an automatic gearbox, includes an intelligent traction control system (ASR), dynamic stability control (DSC), electronic brake force distribution (EBFD) and emergency brake assist (EBA).

Lotus Makes a Family Sports Car

The Lotus Evora is the first all-new Lotus since the Elise roadster of 1996 (the coupe version called Exige joined the line-up in 2000) and the world's only production mid-engine 2+2. Evora is the biggest milestone Lotus has achieved since the Elise and is the start of our bold five year strategic business plan, which includes the introduction of three new cars and advanced new technologies to many more markets around the world," says Mike Kimberley, CEO of Group Lotus plc. "The Evora also represents Lotus core values of performance through light weight and efficiency, proving you can have performance, fuel economy, elegant design and practicality all in a class leading mid-engine 2+2 sports car, whilst also meeting all global safety and homologation standards". Power comes from a Toyota 3.5-litre V6 (with Toyota's VVT-i variable valve timing system) producing 276 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. Lotus developed its own engine management system to optimize unique outputs. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual (also from Toyota). Pavement grip is entrusted to unique Yokohama LTS performance tires (225/40 ZR18 up front ; 255/35 ZR19 in rear). The combination of a 0.337 coefficient of drag and weight at just over 1300 kg, allows the car to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in under five seconds, with a claimed top speed of 261 km/h. Because it aims to reach a different type of buyer from the almostracecar like Elise and Exige models, Evora features a more refined cabin with elegant trim and extensive equipment list with contemporary features such as touch screen multimedia centre, extensive connectivity for mobile phones and portable audio devices, and power mirrors. Access to the interior is also reportedly easier than with the smaller sports cars, with wider, taller door openings, narrower sills and a higher seating position that will reportedly accommodate two 99 percentile males (six foot five). Future derivatives of the car are planned including, among others, a convertible model. Just 2,000 Evoras are planned for annual production on a dedicated assembly line in Hethel, England.

2010 MG Sport Cars TF 85th Anniversary

A few months ago MG presented a special version of its TF, the 85th Anniversary . At that time there were no interesting images of this model, but a recently emerged showing him incredibly. In the summer of 2009, two new MGs were being launched to join the highly successful MG TF LE500; the affordable MG TF 135 and a unique new MG that is being produced to mark the 85th Anniversary of the brand, the MG TF 85th Anniversary.
2010 MG TF 85th Anniversary
Jack Safiruddin, Sales & Aftersales Operations Manager for MG, said. "With summer kicking in, the launch of two new cars and our recent scrappage announcement regarding a £2000 reduction on the price of a new MG, the next few months will be a very tempting time for customers to get the new sports car they have always wanted."
The greatly anticipated MG TF 135 will be launched shortly and is sure to appeal to motorists who want sports car fun at a highly competitive price. Good levels of trim and equipment including a Clarion ICE system, combine with a price tag that will broaden its appeal and bring it within the budget of many more people. The TF 135 will hit showrooms shortly, offering all the fun and appeal of a convertible sports car at a highly affordable £13,511 OTR.
This special version differs from the conventional in several respects. For the new colors, a central line that runs almost everywhere, by an impressive tires, an air intake of a different design, graphics and a new air intake on the side, a rear reformed, and by a more pronounced spoiler. A unique MG TF is being launched to mark the 85th Anniversary of the MG brand. The MGTF 85th Anniversary will be a great looking car with fantastic handling.
This is the perfect car for taking out on the highway for a lazy Sunday.  The true genius behind the design and engineering of the MG is the small but performance enhanced 1.8L 16v 135bhp 4 cylinder DOHC with its 5 speed manual transmission.
It may only pack a four cylinder engine but with performance at the forefront of it’s design, this MG can reach speeds of up to 127mph/205kph.  Another cool feature on all MG’s is the patented multi-port fuel injection system.  This means that the power is better distributed inside of the cylinder chamber. It’s like having a HEMI enveloped into a smaller package.
Other performance features on the new MG TF include the fact that it can go from 0-60mph in just 8.4 seconds.Available in three special colours overlaid with striking graphics and a new design of alloy wheel, from the outside the car looks sensational. The cabin is stunning too as the specialist graphics continue with monogrammed sill finishers and gear knob which complement new stylish Aubergine leather trim and a high quality ICE system.
Apart from the stunning look, the new TF 85th Anniversary model also benefits from a ride and handling package that's tuned to make this car unique to drive. Bilstein suspension, Eibach anti roll system, lower ride height, an all new anti torsion pack and a modified wheel set up on Rimstock 'Twisted Pepper' style wheels give the 85th Anniversary edition a grown up feel and very precise handling at high speeds.
The price is very interesting for Great Britain , is £ 15,664 , but apparently for some skills that made the Government your cost will be in the £ 13,664
With the fully loaded and highly specified MG TF LE500, the extremely affordable MG TF 135 and the tightly handling MG 85th Anniversary, MG now offers a family of cars that give existing owners looking for something new, as well as prospective customers who just want to enjoy British mid engined, top down sports car driving, some real choices.
